President Donald Trump is slated to deliver the State of the Union address on January 30.
A liberal Congressman from Oregon just came out and said he will not be in attendance – a major slap in the face to the commander-in-chief.
From The Hill:
A number of Democrats last year boycotted President Trump’s inauguration and first joint address to Congress — and on Friday the first lawmaker announced that he won’t attend the State of the Union later this month.
Liberal Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) released a statement that said he will be back in his district instead of the House chamber for Trump’s address on Jan. 30.
“Rather than listening to yet another destructive and divisive speech by Trump, I will not attend this year’s annual address to Congress,” Blumenauer said. “Instead, like I did during Trump’s Inauguration, I will be working here at home listening to Oregonians about what they think about the State of the Union.
More from Daily Caller:
Several Democrats also boycotted Trump’s first address to a joint session of Congress in February last year. Following that address, Blumenauer garnered attention for his one-word response to Trump’s speech: “Resist.”
This is childish nonsense.
As an elected official, Blumenauer should most certainly attend.
If he changes his mind, great. If not, the good people of Oregon might want to work on finding a Republican to replace him.
