Democrat Resigns After Getting Busted for Child Porn, but it Gets More Disturbing [VIDEO]

A Democrat lawmaker from Pennsylvania committed an unthinkable crime against children, and now he’s paying the price. Not only was the liberal arrested, but he has since resigned from his position.

From Philly:

To all appearances, the balding and bespectacled Philip Ahr was a typical husband and father of two.

His resumé is robust: Graduate of the University of Notre Dame, former Navy hospital corpsman, a leader in his Bryn Mawr Catholic parish, and Radnor Township commissioners president. A successful marketing director, he has lived in the affluent Main Line community for 22 years.

But online, authorities said, Ahr led a double life.

Sometimes using the username “Daddy X” or “Daddy XX,” Ahr allegedly sent and distributed images of infants and toddlers being abused by adults. Authorities said Ahr also attempted to hide more than a thousand links to pornographic images in multiple Excel spreadsheets on two computers.

The 66-year-old Ahr was charged Wednesday with child pornography possession and distribution dating to 2013, as well as criminal use of communication facility and child sexual abuse. All four counts are felonies, and Delaware County District Attorney John J. Whelan said that if convicted, Ahr could face “significant time” in jail.

Here’s the ‘more disturbing’ part, via Philly:

When Philip Ahr resigned Monday from his post on the Radnor board of commissioners — almost a month after being charged with child pornography — he also turned in a township-issued iPad.

On the device, Radnor Township officials discovered additional “suspicious or concerning” images and turned it over to Delaware County authorities, a District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman said Tuesday. County forensic analysts planned to conduct a review of the iPad.

It was not immediately clear when the images were obtained by Ahr or whether they were shared with anyone online. It was also unclear if Ahr could face additional charges because of the discovery.

Ahr’s resignation letter, per Patch:

Dear Mr. Zienkowski,

The purpose of this letter is to provide written confirmation of my decision to resign as the Commissioner of the 7th Ward, Radnor Township, effective immediately.

First and foremost, I apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment I have caused that has damaged the public’s trust. I am mindful of the distraction the criminal allegations against me have created for the administration of government within the township. I apologize specifically to the constituents of the 7th Ward, my neighbors, and the township I have served for almost two years.

My immediate resignation is to allow me to focus on my own personal rehabilitation; to allow my colleagues on the Board of Commissioners to work on the issues facing the township; and to provide for the residents of the 7th Ward to be adequately represented by my replacement.

Sincerely,
Phil M. Ahr

What a sick, twisted man.
