President Donald Trump is doing his best to combat Democrats over the issue of sanctuary cities.
Even though the Justice Department has told illegal alien-harboring cities they won’t receive federal money, some progressive cities continue to defy the rule of law.
New York City’s socialist Mayor Bill de Blasio is just the worst!
From AP News:
New York City officials sent a letter to the U.S. Justice Department Friday defying a directive intended to pressure the city into cooperating more with federal immigration enforcement efforts.
New York was among four so-called “sanctuary cities” that were given an Oct. 27 deadline to show they’re not hampering enforcement of U.S. immigration law.
The Justice Department has threatened to cut off millions of dollars in federal grants to the cities, which include Chicago, New Orleans and Philadelphia, if they didn’t meet certain criteria.
In New York, the Justice Department wants the city’s jails to notify federal immigration agents when someone in the United States illegally is about to be released from custody. Right now, local laws only allow city officials to share information about people who have been convicted of certain crimes.
During his inauguration ceremony, Bill appeared to take a direct shot at President Trump.
Monday at his inauguration ceremony, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio said, “In this heyday of hatred, this new dawn of divisiveness, we in our city refuse to be dragged down to a place we know is beneath us.”
More from The Hill:
“We will not be passive in the face of regression. We will not ignore or deny the threat. We will confront it head on. To do anything less would be an affront to our very identity as New Yorkers,” De Blasio said.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is seen as a likely presidential candidate in 20202, presided over De Blasio’s swearing-in ceremony.
Sanders praised De Blasio and his administration, saying they understand “our job is to bring people together with love and compassion, and to end the divisions and the attacks that are taking place.”

How could NYC residents re-elect this man?
