Much of the cleaning that your carpet requires can be performed with little more than hot steam and a suction pump which can take the form of a vacuum cleaner. However, there will be a few stains here or there that are so stubborn that you would never be able to clear them up despite your best efforts. Some people assume that carpet stain removal is something that can only be accomplished through the use of expensive carpet shampoos, but what if we told you that there is a much cheaper solution that can be made with basic household ingredients?
If you want to make the best carpet cleaning solution in the comfort of your very own home, you need four basic ingredients once all has been said and is now out of the way. The first of these ingredients would be vinegar, although you can substitute it with lime or lemon juice as well. The second ingredient is anything that is alkaline in nature such as dishwashing liquid. The reason behind this is that you need acidic and alkaline compounds to interact on a chemical level in order to make your cleaning solution more effective than might have been the case otherwise.
The third ingredient is simple water which can suspend the other chemicals in a stable enough concoction. Finally, we have the fourth ingredient which is optional. This ingredient is baking soda, and if you’re adding dishwashing soap you might not even have to use it at all. It adds a bit of abrasiveness to the cleaning fluid which can come in handy in certain situations but is by no means a mandatory addition to the solution.
