Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore has been accused by multiple women of sexual impropriety. He has flat out denied these claims and there has been little proof, yet many Congressional GOPers are screaming for Moore to drop out of the race. Now, RINO Sen. Jeff Flake (AZ) says he’d ‘for sure’ support Democrat Doug Jones over Moore.
From The Hill:
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said Monday that he would support the Democratic candidate in the Alabama Senate special election over GOP candidate Roy Moore.
“If this choice is between Roy Moore and a Democrat, a Democrat,” Flake told reporters Monday in response to a question about who he would support. “For sure.”
Flake’s comments come just hours after Beverly Young Nelson became the latest woman to accuse Moore of sexual misconduct when she was a teenager.
Nelson alleges that Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old.
The new accusations come days after a bombshell Washington Post report that claimed Moore had inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in 1979, when he was 32. Three other women also said Moore pursued relationships with them when they were teenagers and Moore was in his 30s.
More, via Daily Caller:
One of the accusers, Leigh Corfman, said that she had a sexual encounter with Moore when she was 14 and he was 32. Moore has continued to deny the allegations. Another woman, Beverly Young Nelson, claimed that Moore attempted to have sex with her one night just after her 16th birthday in 1977.
Alabama law does not allow the Republican Party to replace the candidate on the ballot should Moore step aside. Instead, a write-in campaign would have to occur.
Flake is on a long list of other GOP lawmakers who have called for Moore to step down from the Alabama Senate race. Moore has made it clear he will not be stepping down anytime soon and has completely denied all allegations.
Is it any wonder why Flake chose to retire after one-term in the Senate? Shouldn’t be.
