Far Left NYC Mayor Gives Himself $33,000 Raise, Promises ‘New Progressive Era’

It’s funny how lefties will complain about “wage inequality,” while those in positions of power always seem to find ways to give themselves more cash.

Check out NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio…

From Daily Wire:

In early-February 2016, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio signed legislation that would provide a pay raise to himself, city council members, district attorneys, and borough presidents, among others. The mayor said he wouldn’t take the pay raise until the beginning of his second term, which officially began on January 1, 2018.

De Blasio’s new $258,750 salary represents an increase of 15% over his previous salary of $225,000. A New Yorker earning a $13 minimum wage, working eight hours a day, seven days a week (with no time off) would make $34,944 before taxes — which is roughly equivalent to de Blasio’s $33,750 pay increase.

Wealth is not a bad thing, nor is a wage increase, but for a man who regularly rails against income inequality, and gives little to charity, it seems a bit odd that de Blasio doesn’t appear to have a problem with giving himself a substantial raise on top of an already substantial salary.

More from Daily Caller:

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio promised Monday to usher the city into a “new progressive era” that will spread beyond the city’s “borders.”

“Something big is happening in New York City,” de Blasio told a crowd of hundreds gathered in front of City Hall Monday. The 56-year-old Democratic mayor announced a commitment to bring about “a new progressive era in this city’s history,” one that will be “felt beyond our borders.”

De Blasio was sworn in Monday for his second and final term as the city’s mayor. Progressive stalwart Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont administered de Blasio the oath.

De Blasio is everything wrong with America.

Although, because of people like him and his far-left beliefs, Donald Trump is president today.
