Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake is retiring after one-term in the Senate because he refuses to back President Trump’s agenda and he knows he’d get clobbered. Recently, Flake was caught on a hot mic saying the GOP is ‘toast’ under Trump’s leadership. Trump fired back…
From ABC News:
Flake, R-Ariz., was at a tax reform event in Mesa, Arizona on Friday night when he was caught bashing the president in a conversation with friend, Mesa Mayor John Giles.
“If we become the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast,” Flake was caught saying by ABC affiliate KNXV.
Trump is a frequent opponent for Flake, who announced last month he would not seek re-election in 2018 in a fiery speech condemning the president from the floor of the Senate.
Trump’s response, via The Hill:
President Trump on Sunday took aim at Sen. Jeff Flake, blasting the Arizona Republican for comments he made about Trump on Saturday and claiming Flake’s political career is “toast.”
In a tweet, Trump branded the senator “Jeff Flake(y)” and called him “unelectable.”
Sen. Jeff Flake(y), who is unelectable in the Great State of Arizona (quit race, anemic polls) was caught (purposely) on “mike” saying bad things about your favorite President. He’ll be a NO on tax cuts because his political career anyway is “toast.”

Flake has also torn into his own party, accusing it of abandoning its core principles during a speech on the Senate floor.
Trump for the win? YUP!
